The Sharjah Equestrian Centre is a project that considers its architectural form through the use of structure, program layout and site. Conformed to a complex site by the simplicity of the rectangualr plan, this center is nested between the surrounding hills whilst providing easy access for the horses and trainers on site.

The concept of the design is that of a square elevation as a rectangualr volume that is simply rotated. This rotation is structurally supported by a row of trusses that run along the entire roof of the building and is seen protruding above an open balcony at the rear that provides a hint of the internal structure from the exterior.

Linear windows enhance the playfullness of light in the building whilst providing indirect sunlight that filters through whilst providing shade in certain areas.

This project was awarded an Honourable Mention in the British Petroleum Ltd. Awards held at the American University of Sharjah 2007.
